The common cold and influenza are contagious viral respiratory infections. While the common cold is usually mild, influenza can cause more severe symptoms and complications. Both spread through respiratory droplets and close contact. Symptoms typically resolve within one to two weeks. Preventive measures such as hand hygiene and vaccination reduce the risk of infection and transmission.
